Systems Alliance Makes Delivering Mobile Web Content Easy with Enhancement Pack 5 for SiteExecutive
Key Feature of Software Update Automatically Detects Mobile Web Browsers and Converts Desktop Site Content for Proper Display on Leading Mobile Devices
SPARKS, Md., March 9, 2009 – Systems Alliance Inc., a software development firm and systems integrator providing high-value IT and business consulting services, today announced the release of Enhancement Pack 5 (EP 5), a software update for the company’s SiteExecutive Web content management application. In addition to client-requested improvements and support for IE 8, EP 5 simplifies the creation, management and delivery of mobile-friendly Web content.
Mobile Content Made Easy
SiteExecutive is all about providing non-technical people with easy to use tools for creating, managing and delivering Web content. Today, massive numbers of people use mobile devices for surfing the Web (40 million wireless subscribers in the US according to a July 2008 report from Nielsen). This means virtually all Web content needs to be mobile friendly.
To deliver mobile content, earlier versions of SiteExecutive gave clients the option of adding media-dependent style sheets based on the W3C CSS 2 standard for handheld devices. Lack of support for this standard among popular mobile browsers led to a new approach introduced in EP 5, which combines automatic detection of mobile browsers and template swapping.
When SiteExecutive EP 5 detects a site visitor has arrived from a mobile device (iPhone, Blackberry, etc.), it automatically swaps the desktop Web page for a new page created with a “Sibling” template configured specifically for mobile devices (visit a mobile-friendly site from your desktop here). Based on the best practices for developing mobile content, Sibling template creation requires very little effort – especially when compared with creating media-specific CSS.
With SiteExecutive EP 5, Systems Alliance is offering site owners an easy-to-use, fast and cost-effective mechanism for delivering mobile-friendly Web content. And for those non-technical content authors who make up the bulk of the SiteExecutive user community, they can now create, manage and deliver mobile-friendly content without any additional effort (except for possibly condensing their prose).
Other Enhancements
In addition to the fore-mentioned new capabilities, Enhancement Pack 5 includes a host of client-requested enhancements including:
- IE 8 Certification – The SiteExecutive administrative interface is certified for use with Internet Explorer 8
- Spam Management Interface – New interface users evaluate and retrieve automatically detected spam form submissions
- Blog Usability and Display – EP 5 provides greater control over the display and styling of Blog components, and display of Blog posts
- Navigation Module Usability – EP 5 makes it easier to build and display dynamically generated navigation
- External Redirects – New management interface lets users configure external redirects from the SiteExecutive interface, rather than the Web server
- SEO Friendly Profiles – EP 5 delivers profiles with human readable URIs, and provides control over browser title and other data in the head section of profiles
