HTML Snippet

The HTML snippet is neither an application nor a module, but a tool that is found within the page editor of SE. The snippet tool lets you embed HTML code into your pages in a variety of different ways. You can snag some HTML code from another site and embed it into a page or you can create something in HTML in an outside program and embed it into the page.

Why you should get familiar with the HTML Snippet

The snippet helps reduce the need for object inclusions, which was really the only way that you could embed other HTML content on your pages or templates in the past. As you know, object inclusions can take a long time to set up because you have to create the HTML, save it as a file (the object), upload it into SiteExecutive, then place the object inclusion either in the page or on the template -- four steps to do something you can now do in one. That’s right, the HTML snippet turns the process into one simple step - you copy and paste the HTML into the snippet, save and you’re done.

Practical example of how you can use the HTML Snippet:

  • Embedding Google maps for directions
  • Embedding video onto pages
  • Embedding graphical images as links onto pages and templates
  • Embedding weather forecasts
  • Embedding code for navigation, header and footer elements

HTML Snippet provides added flexibility

Some content authors do not always have the right set of permissions to perform certain tasks. With the HTML snippet you get added flexibility for including the exact elements you want on your pages.
